Pedro Jesus has a degree in architecture and a postgraduate qualification in Pedagogical Innovation and Educational Change. He holds a PhD in Educational Sciences – specialising in School Administration and Organisation – from the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Portuguese Catholic University. 

Researcher in the fields of educational innovation and student participation in educational contexts, his doctoral research sought to understand the interrelated dimensions that contribute to the development of successful innovations in school education, including student participation. 

On a professional level, for the last seven years he has worked as the manager of an educational innovation project in a network of schools in Portugal and as an expert in the same network in the field of student participation. In this context, he has been investigating the factors that favour the development of children and young people participation and the factors that hinder it.
