G6 – Politics, Human Rights and Global Citizenship
G6 – Politics, Human Rights and Global Citizenship
Coordination: João Relvão Caetano, Susana Alves-Jesus
The Politics, Human Rights and Global Citizenship group is made up of researchers at different career stages and from different scientific disciplines who jointly explore topics of undeniable global interest: politics, human rights and citizenship. Intergenerationality and interdisciplinarity, as well as internationalization and the promotion of interaction with society are the group’s overarching commitments. They are also the ingredients for embracing the challenge of working in an emerging area of knowledge, establishing broad and innovative relationships that include the production, communication and dissemination of knowledge in accordance with the rules of open science.
The commitment to the scientific area of Global Studies is serious, guiding all the researchers’ activities, whether in the choice of research topics, the creation of teams or the definition of strategies for publishing and disseminating knowledge. The group’s researchers actively pursue the CEG’s strategy of linking up with similar centers around the world in order to form joint research projects, promote publishing initiatives, and organize scientific events, particularly within the framework of scientific associations, etc. The research strategy is defined by active participation within the group and, in the larger center, by the group’s representatives.

Of particular note is the institutionalized practice at the center, and in the group, of presenting and discussing project results with researchers from other research centers on a reciprocal basis, fostering the creation and strengthening of international networks and increasing scientific production and the dissemination of knowledge on a collaborative basis.
