Hélder Mendes Baião holds degrees in history, art history, and French literature from the University of Lausanne, where he also completed a doctoral thesis in 2015. Currently, Hélder Mendes Baião is a researcher at the University of Bern and a scientific collaborator at the University of Porto. He is a specialist in 18th-century utopian and republican thought and is currently engaged in research on the image of Portugal in 18th-century French literature. At the University of Bern, he is also involved in editing the correspondence of Chrétien Guillaume de Lamoignon de Malesherbes and the Duchess d’Enville, in collaboration with Professor Michèle Crogiez Labarthe.
