Daniel Pires 

Graduated in Germanic Philology and a PhD in Portuguese Culture, Daniel Pires has an extensive teaching background. He served as a cooperative teacher in São Tomé and Príncipe and Mozambique, taught secondary education, and worked as a Portuguese language lecturer at the Universities of Glasgow, Macau, Guangzhou, and Goa. 

Since its founding in 1999, he has been the director of the Centro de Estudos Bocageanos (Center for Bocage Studies). Among his numerous publications are Dictionary of Portuguese Literary Press of the 20th Century, Chronological Dictionary of 19th Century Macanese Press, and Bocage: The Image and the Word, as well as essays on figures such as Camilo Pessanha, Wenceslau de Moraes, Padre Malagrida, the Marquis of Pombal, and Raul Proença. 

Daniel Pires has also contributed to several significant reference works, including Dictionary of Fernando Pessoa, Dictionary of the Republic, Dictionary of Literature of the Iberian Peninsula, Cambridge Guide to World Theatre, Chronological Dictionary of Portuguese Authors, Dictionary of the History of Portugal, and Dictionary of the History of Portugal: The April 25 Revolution.
