Ana Isabel Soares completed her PhD in Literary Theory in 2003 in the Program in Theory of Literature (Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon). She has a MA in the same Program in Theory of Literature (1996) and a Degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, Portuguese and English Studies (1993), also from the Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon. She is an Associate Professor with Tenure at the University of Algarve (Gambelas), where she has taught since 1996, and Researcher at the Center for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC-UAlg). She published several articles in specialized publications, as well as books and book chapters. She has supervised over twenty doctoral theses and MA dissertations. Among others, her interests are in the fields of Portuguese cinema, literature and film, literary theory, urban narratives, Portuguese women filmmakers, translation, media literacy.
