Rita Lourenço Gil graduated in Portuguese and French Literature (2001), Religious Sciences (2007), completed a Master’s in Special Education, and earned a PhD in Pedagogical Innovation (2021). She is a professional in the field of Special Education and has been involved in developing training programs focusing on the operationalization of Pedagogical Differentiation and multilevel approaches in the classroom. She served as the Coordinator of the Pilot Project of Pedagogical Innovation (2017/18) at one of the Portuguese Public Schools participating in the DGE project, which was the subject of her PhD research. In 2020, she initiated and coordinated the Mentoring Program with a special focus on peer regulation and inclusion. She became a member of the Multidisciplinary Team to Support Inclusive Education (EMAEI) in 2020-21. Currently, in 2023-24, she is working with students learning Portuguese as a non-native language. Rita Lourenço Gil is also a researcher at the Global Studies Center of Universidade Aberta.
