Pedro Abrantes is professor at Universidade Aberta, where he teaches in undergraduate, master’s and PhD courses, and coordinates the Observatory of Graduates’ Professional and Life Paths. He is also a guest professor at ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), the institution where he obtained his degree and doctorate in Sociology, being member of the board of the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-IUL), between 2006 and 2012. He also taught at the Polytechnic Institutes of Santarém and Leiria, at the University of Lisbon and the Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico). He was consultant in programs at the Ministry of Education, as well as visiting researcher at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) and the Centro de Investigación en Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (Mexico). He was Advisor of the Minister of Education (2016-2020) and Deputy Director-General of the Education and Science Statistics Office (2020-22). He is a member of the Portuguese Sociology Association, where he was member of the board and currently coordinates the section of Classes, Inequalities and Public Policies.
