Orlando Petiz Pereira holds a PhD in Economic and Business Sciences since 2002. He is Assistant Professor at the School of Economics and Management (EEG), at the University of Minho, in Portugal. The main areas of research are Knowledge Economy, Economy of the Firm, Education Economics, Innovation Economics, and the Social Economy. In the last decade, he researched the role of the ‘New School’ in Society. Current research entails organisational values – business and social in nature, highlighting emotional, relational, and spiritual capitals which form the basis of economic and social performance. These are being researched as well as their effect on the inclusive society and the development of democracies. Before joining the University of Minho, he worked in the private-for-profit business world. He was also a teacher in Professional Schools, in Professional Training Centers, in Polytechnic Institutes and a trainer in Companies.
