Olga Magano is a sociologist and assistant professor at the Universidade Aberta (UAb), Department of Social Sciences and Management. She has a PhD in Sociology, a master’s degree in Intercultural Relations from UAb and a degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. She has carried out research on Ciganos/ Roma in Portugal, social and spatial segregation, identities, life paths, social trajectories, social transformation, refugees, discrimination, racism, social mobility, social inequalities, cultural diversities, migration, among other thematic areas. She is co-coordinator of the Cultural Diversities and Spaces of Intervention Section of the Portuguese Sociological Association. She is also member of the Portuguese Sociological Association, of the Gypsy Lore Society and of the European Academic Network on Romani Studies. She is an integrated researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES_Iscte) and a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Global Studies (CEG-UAb) and the Institute of Sociology at the University of Porto (IS-UP). She also collaborates with the NEPE – Centre for Studies and Research on Ethnicity, at the Federal University of Pernambuco and the Cultural Studies Group, at the Federal University of Paraíba. She is a member of the Observatory of the Professional and Life Paths of Graduates of the UAb.
