Marisa Balas has over 30 years of professional experience in Africa, managing projects and working with governments, multilateral and bilateral institutions, the private sector, and academic institutions. Her work and research focus on improving service delivery through the design and development of digital platforms and providing technical assistance in project management, process improvement, digital transformation, and development. Currently, Marisa leads the Working Group on Women’s Land Rights at the Land Cadastre Commission of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG). She is researching gender inequality in access to and secure ownership of land at Universidade Aberta in Portugal, as part of her Ph.D. in Social Sustainability and Development
