Mariana Teixeira has a degree in Sociology from the University of Beira Interior (2010), a master’s
degree in Sociology: Exclusions and Social Policies from the University of Beira Interior (2012) and is
a PhD student in Intercultural Relations at the Aberta’s University. She teaches Sociology at the
Instituto Superior Politécnico Independente (ISPI – Huíla, Angola) where she is Vice-President for
Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies. She has experience as a researcher and consultant in the
areas of community development, poverty, exclusion, gender and social policies. She also has
experience in organizing scientific events. Mariana Teixeira was part of the team that carried out the
Diagnosis on Gender Equality in Angola, funded by the European Union Delegation, as part of the
EU-Angola Dialogue Facility Project, and has cooperated with United Nations agencies such as
UNESCO.
