Maria Rosário da Costa Bastos did her BA in History and her MA in Medieval History at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, Portugal. In 2006, she completed her PhD at the Universidade Aberta (Portugal), where she teaches History in the Department of Social Sciences and Management. In 1998, she won “Vasco de Carvalho” History Prize for her master’s thesis entitled ” Santa Maria de Oliveira: one of the monastic monasteries of Entre-Douro-e-Minho at the end of the Middle Ages “. In 2009, her PhD won A. de Almeida Fernandes Prize, Grand Prize for Medieval History, with the thesis “Baixo Vouga in medieval times: from the preamble of the monarchy to the end of the reign of King Dinis. She has given courses and mini courses in Portugal and Brazil. She is currently supervising doctoral and post-doctoral work in Portugal. She is an integrated researcher at CITCEM – Transdisciplinary Research Center “Culture, Space and Memory” at the University of Porto. She is a member of Report(h)a – Portuguese Environmental History Network and a founding member of the BRASPOR International Research Network. He is Vice-President of the Pedagogical Council of Universidade Aberta.
