Marco Manuel Beato Antunes Pires holds a Degree in History, Professionalization in Group 200 – Portuguese and Social Studies/History and Professionalization in Group 400 – History, Postgraduate in Education Sciences/Educational Training Branch and Master’s in Pedagogical Use of ICT . 

He was a teacher of Basic and Secondary Education, Class Director and Coordinator of Group 400, between 1997 and 2019. He was a Guest Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior de Línguas e Administração (ISLA) of Leiria, between 2001 and 2002, and Internship Advisor at the University of Coimbra, between 1998 and 1999. 

He was a trainer in the Recognition, Validation and Certification of Skills (RVCC) process, coordinator, trainer and mediator in Adult Education and Training (EFA) courses, between 2005 and 2019. In 2020, he joined the IEFP of Leiria, starting to perform them full time, with the addition of the functions of a member of the School Jury in the RVCC process. 

In 1999, he published the book, “The Medieval Confraternity of Alcorochel (the compromise and the fall of its assets)”; in 2022, the project report entitled “Motivation of EFA course graduates to use the e-portfolio: Case study”. He is currently a collaborating researcher in Research Group 2, Global Education: Connectivity, Complexity and Diversity, at the Open University of Lisbon.
