Anthropologist. Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Management at Universidade Aberta (UAb). Researcher at the Institute for the Study of Literature and Tradition (IELT-FCSH-NOVA) and external associate researcher at the Centre for Refugee Studies (CRS), York University – Toronto. PhD in Social Anthropology from UAb (2010) with a thesis on ritual practice and social organisation in a Bunak-speaking community in the Bobonaro district of Timor-Leste. His research focus on two main subjects: Timor-Leste and southeast Asia ritual practices and citizenship, ethnography in colonial context and the politics of culture; forced migration and refugees’ integration policies and history in Portugal and CPLP.
