Luca Onesti is PhD Candidate in the Philosophy of Science, Technology, Art and Society Programme at the University of Lisbon and conducts research on the commons, political ecology and debt economy. In recent years, he has been researching protest movements against lithium mining in Portugal and their proposals for an ecological transition from below. He also works on the post-earthquake reconstruction in Turkey and its socio-ecological implications. As a journalist and photographer, he has published for several Italian and international newspapers on ecological and political issues. He has also worked in the media department of non-governmental organisations in Sierra Leone and Turkey.
