Associate Professor with Aggregation at Universidade Aberta. Director of the Department of Social Sciences and Management since February 2021, previously holding the same position from January 2009 to January 2013. He has been the Coordinator of the Master’s in Management program since 2018, also serving in this role from 2007 to 2013. At Universidade Aberta, he was a member of the Management Council and Senate from 2008 to 2016. He served as Vice-Rector for Projects and Research, and was Coordinator of the Office for Research and Development Projects Support from November 2014 to December 2018. 

He obtained his undergraduate degree in Organization and Business Management from ISEG in 1990, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics for Economics and Management in 1993. In 2005, he completed his Ph.D. in Management, specializing in Strategy, at Universidade Aberta. He has taught various courses in Financial Management, Strategic Management, and European Integration. Since 2005, he has been responsible for courses in Strategy within the Master’s in Management/MBA program. 

In addition to his teaching activities, he has conducted research in Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Family Businesses, Digital Transformation, and Regional Development, publishing extensively on these topics. Until 2008, he held various roles as a consultant and executive in the financial, industrial, real estate, and training sectors. He served as Advisor to the Office of the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Fisheries and to the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries (between 2005 and 2008), and is a consultant to the United Nations’ TrainForTrade program, UNCTAD, focusing on International Trade training. Since 2018, he has been the CEO of a consulting firm dedicated to implementing Purpose-driven Management in organizations.
