Joaquim Gronita holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Health Communication from Universidade Aberta, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from ISPA – Instituto Universitário. He received the Specialist Title of Recognized Merit in Higher Education in the field of Psychology from the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. He is a member of the Portuguese Psychologists Association (Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses), holding specialist titles in Educational Psychology, Clinical and Health Psychology, Early Intervention, and Special Educational Needs. He has training in Systemic Family Therapy from the Portuguese Society of Family Therapy. Since 2006, he has been a lecturer at Universidade Aberta, currently serving as an Assistant Professor. He is also a Visiting Associate Professor at the School of Education and Social Sciences of IP Portalegre. In terms of research, he has been part of the Center for Studies of Migrations and Intercultural Relations (CEMRI) since 2007, and from 2016 to 2022, he was the Deputy Scientific Coordinator of the same center. He has participated in and coordinated research projects and is the author and co-author of several publications.
