João Manuel de Lemos Baptista has a PhD in Global Studies from Universidade Aberta, a Master in Innovation and Development Policies from Universidade de Aveiro and a degree in Geography from Universidade de Coimbra. He began teaching in January 1982 at the Machico Secondary School. He is a member and researcher at the Center for Global Studies at the Open University and Vice-President of the General Assembly of the World Health and Wellness Tourism Association and member of the Technical/Scientific Council for the World’s Archipelagos, of the same institution. He was a member of the Regional Parliament of Madeira between 1992 and 2004, is President of the Atlantic Association for Scientific Research since January 2008 and Director of the Journal of Scientific Dissemination AICA since 2009. He is Consultant of the Dictionary of Entrepreneurship Education since 2018. He is currently Guest Adjunct Professor at the University of Madeira, having taught in the first semester the curricular unit of Geography and Tourism Markets in the degree of Hotel Management and Regions and Tourism in the Master of Regional and Local Studies.
