Elísio Jorge Vaz Gala (b. 1965, in Lisbon) has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Lisbon (UCP) – Lisbon, with the thesis O Pensamento Político de Álvaro Ribeiro, and a Postgraduate in Education for Citizenship (UCP – Lisbon/ Institute of National Defense). 

He has developed his studies and work mainly in four areas: school, teaching the subject of Philosophy in secondary education, coordinating and writing the edition of 9 Integration Area manuals and participating in the team of authors of a Philosophy Manual for the 11th grade; academic, with participation in congresses that resulted in written communications and collective works, namely Dicionário de Educadores Portugueses, Padre Manuel Antunes (1918-1985): Interfaces da Cultura Portuguesa e Europeia, Dicionário Crítico de Filosofia Portuguesa e Redenção e Escatologia no Pensamento Português; non-institutional, in the context of Portuguese culture and philosophy, notably the work A Filosofia Política de Álvaro Ribeiro, and in partnership, Santo Agostinho na Cultura Portuguesa – Contributo Bibliográfico and communications in various colloquiums; translator, prefacer and annotator of Plato’s Republic/Politeia.
