Ana Cristina Machado Trindade graduated in History from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon in 1978,  and continued her academic training at the University of Madeira, in which she presented a master’s thesis in 1999, and a doctoral thesis in 2011. 

 Among the published works are A Moral e o Pecado Público na Madeira, na  segunda metade do século XVIII, in 1999, D. Frei Manuel Coutinho: um desígnio jacobeu na diocese do Funchal, 2012, Madeira Empreendedora – 40 figuras empreendedoras da cultura madeirense – coordenação e autoria partial, 2019. 

She is currently a member of CLEPUL, the Study Centre of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, and of the Centro de Estudos Globais of the Open University, is the executive coordinator of the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Madeira and belongs, as president of the Scientific Counsil , to Associação para o Desenvolvimento de Estudos Globais e Insulares – ADEGI.
