Catarina Isabel Franco Rita Gaspar was born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, in 1982. She has a degree in Economics from the University of the Azores. 

She started her professional activity early with small jobs, but it was only in 2007 that she joined APIA – Agency for the Promotion of Investments in the Azores, where she would come to realize her taste for entrepreneurship and foreign investment. 

In 2013 she joined the team at SDEA – Azores Business Development Society, being Project Manager of Projects of Regional Interest (PIR) and always involved with attracting external investment and entrepreneurship. 

In 2021 she was invited to join the Regional Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness, where, since 2022, she has headed the External Investment Attraction Division.
